I'm so excited!
I'm finally getting my belated birthday present from my husband. (Mind you that my birthday was in October...) Originally, the birthday gift was to be a nice dSLR filter... But after much research, I decided that I really didn't need a pricey filter since I have my fancy Photoshop CS3 Extended, which can mimic many filter effects. So I purchased cheaper filters for each of my lenses myself (Tiffen 812 warming filters), which cost about $15 each. And decided that my husband should get me Kindle: Amazon's new wireless reading device instead.

To quote my husband, I "crush books" when I have the time to read them. That amounts to 3 books on weekend trips (2, if the books are 1000 pages long like the last Madrid trip). And on average a book a week. So what does this mean? It means that our bookshelves have no room at all for new books (even though I tend to give away books at a fairly quick rate.) And it means that I will be bored to death on my upcoming trip to Africa if I can take only 3~5 books (due to strict luggage weight restrictions) when I will have time to read 15 books.
So here comes along my savior!
With Kindle, I no longer have to worry about the diminishing, or actually non-existent shelf space, and the weight limit when taking books on trips.
My only worry is that Kindle is on backorder and I will not get one before our trip....
